Today, in the West, we live very individualistic lives. We want to own our own homes and cars and we don’t like people prying into our business. Society also wants us to keep our faith private if we have a faith at all.
However, the New Testament talks about living out the Christian life in community and within accountable relationships. The early church knew who belonged ‘to their number’. (Acts 2v41,47, 4v4) and when people joined the church they were ‘added to their number’. (Acts 2v41,47). Churches excercised discipline and people were exhorted not to forsake meeting together. Evangelism and mission was also done together, not freelance.
Therefore at Send we believe in Church membership and want to encourage baptised Christians to join the Church and to work out our faith biblically together. From time to time we will run membership courses.If you would like to join one, please contact the Pastor, Chris Webb.
